Ascona with traditional Ticino lunch

Start the day relaxed with a direct journey through the Gotthard tunnel to sunny Ticino. During the journey, enjoy a freshly brewed coffee and a delicious croissant – the perfect start to an eventful excursion.

We arrive in Locarno mid-morning, where you will have time to stroll along the picturesque lake shore or across the famous Piazza Grande. This spacious square, with its distinctive cobblestones and historic arcade houses, is not only one of the largest city squares in Switzerland, but also the social heart of Locarno.

Shortly before noon, we will continue our journey with a short drive to Ascona. We will be welcomed at Grotto Baldoria, where the concept is simple: eat what the chef has freshly prepared – an authentic, multi-course Ticino lunch in a rustic atmosphere. After lunch, you will have time for a leisurely stroll or an espresso by the lake.

The return journey takes you over the historic Gotthard Pass, once one of the most important trade routes in Europe. To this day, travelers are drawn south over this impressive Alpine route. We will take a short break at the hospice to experience the lively hustle and bustle of travelers, motorcyclists and photographers that makes this place so unique.
