Beethoven Festival in Leipzig with Symphony Concert and Lang Lang

Itinerary

Leipzig combines a great musical tradition with historic charm and a vibrant cultural scene. Together, we discover this historic trade fair city, with the highlight of our trip being an exceptional Beethoven Festival concert by the Gewandhaus Orchestra featuring Lang Lang at the piano.

Day 1: Journey to Leipzig

We travel comfortably from Olten to Leipzig and look forward to three memorable days in this city of music. Along the way, we enjoy lunch at a historic restaurant in a peaceful green setting. There will also be some time to stretch your legs.

We then continue our journey and arrive in Leipzig in the evening. After checking into our centrally located 4-star INNSiDE by Meliá Leipzig hotel, there is time to explore the city at your own pace. The city centre, with its historic arcades, squares and cafés, is perfect for a first stroll. Dinner is at your own arrangement.

Day 2: Discover Leipzig and an Evening Concert with Lang Lang

In the morning, we get to know Leipzig during an approximately three-hour guided coach and walking tour. This historic city of trade and learning impresses with its remarkable architecture, lively squares and rich musical heritage.

We discover some of the city's most important sights and learn more about the famous personalities who lived and worked in Leipzig. Along the way, we experience the city's unique blend of historic heritage and modern urban life.

The afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your leisure. Take the opportunity to stroll through the Old Town, visit a museum or relax in one of the city's many cafés.

In the evening, the musical highlight of our trip awaits us. We attend a symphony concert by the Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Andris Nelsons, with world-renowned pianist Lang Lang as the soloist.

The programme includes Jörg Widmann's Overture on B-A-C-H, based on sketches by Ludwig van Beethoven, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58, and his famous Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92.

A special evening for everyone who appreciates Beethoven's music and outstanding orchestral performances.

Day 3: Return Journey to Switzerland

After breakfast, we say goodbye to Leipzig and begin our journey home. Along the way, we enjoy lunch in Veitshöchheim.

Depending on the time available, there may be an opportunity to take a stroll through the Rococo Garden. We then continue our journey to Switzerland and arrive at our departure points in the evening.
