Ebenalp - Wildkirchli - Gasthaus Aescher

Itinerary

We drive east and stop for a coffee break at a cozy restaurant along the way. Then we continue our journey to Wasserauen in the Appenzell region. From here, the cable car takes us to Ebenalp. Walk through the Wildkirchli cave to Restaurant Aescher – the restaurant on the rock, which is one of the oldest restaurants in Switzerland. After lunch, we return to Ebenalp and take the cable car back down to the valley. In Appenzell, we plan to stop for a while in the afternoon before starting our return journey.

11:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Walk to Aescher
12:00–1:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00–1:15/1:45 p.m. Walk to Ebenalp 
(15–30 minutes, depending on the route)
Stay on Ebenalp until 2:30 p.m.
2:30 p.m. Descent to Wasserauen
2:45–4:30 p.m. Free time in Appenzell
6:30 p.m. Return to the Olten region
