From July 8 to August 22, 2026, the Thunerseespiele will present GREASE, one of the most successful musicals of all time, as an open-air musical for the first time in Switzerland. Rock ‘n’ roll, rebellion, and romance, newly staged in the unique natural setting of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains—good vibes guaranteed!
Welcome to Rydell High School—where rock ‘n’ roll rules, leather jackets are mandatory, and school life is anything but boring! Amidst fast cars, hair gel, and hip swings, a love story that has achieved cult status ignites: Danny, the cool leader of the T-Birds, unexpectedly meets shy Sandy at school, with whom he fell in love during the summer holidays. But between high school cliques, the coolness code, and the desire to fit in, the budding love between the two is put to the test. At Danny's side are the T-Birds—cool guys with gasoline in their blood and always a quip at the ready. They cruise around in souped-up cars and set the tone at school. The Pink Ladies, led by the self-confident Rizzo, are their female counterparts: cheeky, stylish, and with a knack for drama and lipstick.
Between parties, heartbreak, and peer pressure, the question arises: Do you stay who you are—or do you change for love?
With legendary songs such as “Greased Lightnin',” “Summer Nights,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “You're the One That I Want” in the original English, GREASE delivers a fireworks display of nostalgia, humor, and joie de vivre. A lively mix of 1950s flair, dance, tempo, and teenage dreams—a musical that inspires generations and makes the stands shake!
