Between picturesque coastal towns, Mediterranean landscapes and impressive cultural treasures, we enjoy eventful days on Slovenia's Adriatic coast.
Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to Portorož
We travel from the Olten region to Portorož on Slovenia's Adriatic coast. Upon arrival, we check into our rooms with sea views and balconies at the Grand Hotel Bernardin. A welcome drink sets the mood for the days ahead.
Afterwards, there is time to explore the surroundings or enjoy a walk along the coast. In the evening, we enjoy our first dinner together at the hotel.
Day 2: Strunjan and Piran
Hiking programme:
After a short coach journey, we begin our easy hike through Strunjan Landscape Park. Our route takes us past the salt pans and along the impressive cliffs, with magnificent views of the sea and the varied coastal landscape. The hike ends in the historic coastal town of Piran, where we meet the cultural group.

Cultural programme:
We travel directly to Piran by coach. During an extensive guided tour, we discover the Venetian-influenced old town with its winding streets. We visit Tartini Square and St George's Church and learn more about the fascinating history of the town. Afterwards, there is time for a relaxing coffee break by the sea.
Once both groups have met, there is free time in Piran. We can stroll through the narrow streets, enjoy the views of the sea or have lunch at one of the many restaurants and cafés along the waterfront. Afterwards, we return to the hotel together.
Day 3: Trieste and the Famous Rilke Trail
Hiking programme:
We travel by coach to Duino, where our hike along the famous Rilke Trail begins. This scenic coastal path follows the cliffs to Sistiana. The easy and mostly flat route offers magnificent panoramic views of the Adriatic. In Sistiana, our coach picks us up again.

Cultural programme:
We travel to Trieste. During a guided city tour, we discover this elegant former Habsburg city, including Piazza Unità d'Italia and the Grand Canal. There is also the opportunity to visit Miramare Castle. Trieste combines Italian flair and historic architecture in a unique way.
Afterwards, both groups meet for lunch together. The afternoon is free for you to explore Trieste at your own pace. Dinner is served at the hotel.
Day 4: Treasures of the Slovenian Coast – Izola and Koper
Hiking programme:
Our hike takes us towards Izola. The easy and largely flat route follows the attractive coastal landscape, with beautiful views of the sea and surrounding coastal towns along the way. Upon arrival in Izola, we enjoy the special atmosphere of this former fishing town.

Cultural programme:
We travel by coach to Koper. During a guided walk, we discover the historic old town with the Praetorian Palace, the cathedral and the winding streets dating back to the Venetian era. These impressive buildings tell the story of the city's eventful past. Afterwards, we continue to Izola.
In Izola, both groups meet again. There is free time at the picturesque harbour and time for an individual lunch before we begin our return journey.
Day 5: Ljubljana and the Postojna Cave
In the morning, we travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia's charming capital. During a guided city tour, we discover the most beautiful sights of the old town and gain interesting insights into the city's history. Afterwards, there is time for an individual lunch break.
In the afternoon, we visit the impressive Postojna Cave, one of Slovenia's best-known natural wonders. After our visit, we return to the hotel and enjoy our final evening on the Slovenian coast over dinner together.
Day 6: Journey Home
After breakfast, we leave Portorož and begin our journey home. Along the way, we stop at a charming agriturismo in Italy, where we enjoy lunch together.
This gives us another opportunity to reflect on the many experiences of the past few days. Afterwards, we continue back to the Olten region, where our journey ends with many wonderful memories.
Grand Hotel Bernardin ***** Portorož
During our stay, we are accommodated at the renowned Grand Hotel Bernardin ***** in Portorož, directly by the sea. All rooms feature a balcony and sea views, offering wonderful vistas across the Adriatic.
Each day, we enjoy a generous breakfast and dinner buffet. For relaxing moments, complimentary use of the indoor swimming pool with heated seawater is also included.
