Experience the Romantic Road with its medieval towns, historic castles, and picturesque landscapes. Pleasure, culture, and history accompany us every step of the way.
The Romantic Road is one of the most beautiful holiday routes in Germany. It connects medieval towns, picturesque alleys, and dreamlike landscapes. On this trip, we will discover the highlights of southern Germany together – from the Lake Constance region to the heart of Augsburg. We can look forward to varied days full of culture, enjoyment, and special impressions!
Our journey begins with a trip to Lake Constance. Here we cross the lake by ferry – a special experience! In Meersburg, we enjoy a coffee break on the beautiful lake promenade. We continue to Ulm, where we treat ourselves to a delicious lunch break. Right on Münsterplatz, Ulm Minster impresses with the highest church tower in the world. Those who wish can stroll through the nearby fishermen's and tanners' quarter with its picturesque half-timbered houses. In the afternoon, we reach Augsburg. Here, a themed city tour awaits us, focusing on the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Historic Water Management System.” After checking into the Dorint Hotel, the evening is free – we can enjoy dinner in Augsburg or at the hotel, as we wish.
Today we will discover the most beautiful places along the Romantic Road. Our first destination is Nördlingen: the charming old town is completely surrounded by a walkable city wall. On a short walk, we will discover the “Daniel” church tower and the colorful half-timbered houses. We continue to Dinkelsbühl, where we stroll through the colorful old town and enjoy a fine lunch in a medieval setting. In the afternoon, we reach Rothenburg ob der Tauber – a real gem of the Romantic Road. The medieval old town invites you to marvel and stroll, and a selfie in front of the famous Plönlein is a must. In the evening, we return to Augsburg, where we end the day as we please.
After a hearty breakfast buffet, we visit the Fuggerei with a tour guide – the oldest social housing complex in the world and a fascinating testimony to Augsburg's social history. Afterwards, we drive to Dettingen to the Brennscheuer. Here we are introduced to the art of fruit distilling and are allowed to enjoy a tasting. A rich snack is served to accompany this. Well fortified, we embark on the varied journey home. A short trip with many beautiful impressions and experiences comes to an end.
The Dorint Hotel is a striking landmark in Augsburg and is quietly located next to Wittelsbacher Park, just a few minutes' walk from the old town. The modern rooms offer a high level of comfort: air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and spacious bathrooms ensure a pleasant stay. In the morning, a rich breakfast buffet awaits us. The restaurant “Zum Maiskolben” serves Mediterranean and regional dishes in the evening, and the stylish hotel bar invites you to relax and unwind. If you like, you can use the small spa and fitness area with sauna.
